O’svay is composed of five villages along the Mekong River located in Ramsar region and around 60 Km from Steung Treng town. Even if they are living on a potential ecotourism destination, most people depend on farming, fishing and collection of non-timber forest products (NTFPs). In view of this, the Cultural and Environmental Preservation Association has created an ecotourism project to enhance the community’s capacity of conservation and generate income for the people.

Koh Samseb (30 Islands) is a name of Community-based Ecotourism located inside Sambo Wildlife Sanctuary of Kratie province, and also a new bird site for CBGA’s, along the upper Mekong River. The site designated as a wildlife sanctuary on 5th October 2018 by government under the management of the Ministry of Environment. Non-Timber Forest Products – Exchange Program (NTFP-EP) helps coordinate the community-based ecotourism to sustain the protection of biodiversity and landscapes as well as community livelihood. It is a great escape to see Cambodian real life and enjoy camping on the island of Mekong, swimming, sunbathing and boating to see birds.

Koh Trong Eco-Tourism was established on May 25, 2008 with the support of the Kratie Provincial Department of Tourism, CIFD and with funding from the Asia Foundation through Oxfam UK. Koh Trong has become a clean, hygienic and environmentally friendly village, attracting national and international tourists. In addition, this place is also rich in sweet, natural oranges.

Partnership Program to Support Forestry and Fishery Communities (PaFF) supports the community fisheries and forestry to secure and exercise their rights to their natural resources through receiving legal community fisheries and forestry agreement from the government. The program ensures that local and indigenous communities improve their livelihoods by engaging in sustainable community-based livelihood approaches that protect their ecosystem and reduce pressure on their communities’ natural resources. CEPA is one of the implementing partners who is supporting community fishery in Stung Treng province which focuses on the community legalization, community fishery management plan development and implementation. CEPA have been supporting 25 community fisheries and community fishery network initiative.

In 2016, Han Island community near Koh Snaeng Stung Treng province, under the NTFP-EP initiative, launched an ecotourism project aimed at preventing deforestation and other natural resource degradation through ecotourism. Not only that, they could see that tourism revenue can also improve community living.
