Every two years on the 21st of May, citizens around the globe, join hands to celebrate the #WorldFishMigrationDay with a shared global theme which is interpreted into different activities based on the country’s context.
This year to celebrate this global day, the USAIDโs Wonders of the Mekong and FiA, organizing a fish release event to discuss the importance of this initiative, and the significance, challenges, and resolutions related to migratory fish. During the event, there are some rare fish such as Giant Catfish, and 4200 other fish are released in order to raise public awareness of the vital of migratory fish and the free flow of the river.
As the organizing team, it was our utmost honor to receive a valuable present from Mr. Cheang Phen, Deputy General, Fisheries Administration and Mrs. Laura Cizmo, Deputy Director, Office for Sustainable Economic Development, USAID Cambodia to provide essential remarks and keynote speeches on the day.
We also would like to pay our gratitude to WoM, FiA, and YEA team; teachers, and students of the Faculty of Fisheries, the Royal University of Agriculture, Cambodia for the great support to make this event virally happened.
